The final event of the night was easily one of the most exciting, as Hill took the lead with a lap to go and held off a late charging Blankenship, winning 8:26.72-8:27.31.

Kynard Ready for a Big 2015 Season

2012 Olympic silver medalist Erik Kynard moved on from the past two seasons disappointed. He started his 2015 season on a very high note though, winning his first event and a U.S. title Saturday with a leap of 2.34 (7-8).

Hastings Runs Away with 300m Title

Split into two sections, Natasha Hastings knew strategy in the prelims and final would play into her final success. Hastings got out fast and never relented a lead, holding off Jessica Beard to win the women's 300m title, 36.52-36.65.

A slow and tactical first half mile made for a fantastic and frantic race to the finish over the back half of the race. The women's mile field went out in 2:26, and as the pace ramped up, with 400m to go, pre-race favorite Shannon Rowbury made her move and cruised to a national title. Rowbury won in 4:34.40, holding off Katie Mackey's big kick. Mackey finished second in 4:34.83.
