Ben True Achieves Qualifying Standard in 5,000

Ben True of North Yarmouth achieved the qualifying standard in the 5,000 meters for the world track and field championships, running a 13:06.15 on Saturday in Belgium.

True finished third in the race at the KBC Night of Athletics, finishing behind Dejen Gebremeskel (13:05:38) and Bashir Abdi (13:06.10).

 

True finished second in the 5,000 at the U.S. championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 28, assuring that if he ran the qualifying standard of 13:23 by the Aug. 9 deadline he would make the U.S. team for the world championships.
