Dwain Chambers admits defeat in London 2012 quest

DWAIN Chambers has admitted defeat in his quest to overturn his lifetime Olympic ban and compete at London 2012.

Having tested positive for banned steroid THG in 2003, the much-maligned 100m sprinter served his two-year ban and bounced back to athletics last year by becoming the only European to reach the World Championships final in August.

As a result of his drugs ban, Chambers is prohibited from competing at the Olympics by a BOA bye-law - legislation he challenged in 2008, only to see the High Court side with the BOA - one of only a handful of national Olympic associations to adopt such a stance against drugs cheats.

The Brit refused to give up hope however, with a Middle East nation reportedly attempting to convince him to switch nationalities earlier this year.
