(10-Jan) -- The elite field for the 106th Millrose Games' two-mile continues to grow, as Olympians Dathan Ritzenhein and Evan Jager, as well as World Championships competitor Andrew Bumbalough and former NCAA champion German Fernandez, have all been added to the discipline's start list. The Millrose Games will be run on February 16, at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.
"I'm very excited that we have continued to put stellar fields together following the U.S. team's great success at the London Games," said Dr. Norb Sander, executive director of the Armory Foundation.
Ritzenhein, Jager, Bumbalough, and Fernandez will face already announced entrants Bernard Lagat, Cam Levins, and Lawi Lalang. Lagat, 38, seeks to reclaim his American Record at the distance, which he lost to Olympic silver medalist Galen Rupp last year.
"I couldn't be more excited about how this race is coming together," said Millrose Games meet director Ray Flynn.
Ryan Hill, who was originally announced to compete in the two-mile, will now race the NYRR Wanamaker Mile, due to the NCAA's recent decision to disallow 3000m en route times for NCAA indoor qualification.
The Millrose Games is the second stop of the USATF Championship Series.
