Marshall speeds to 13.04 in the 100 hurdles

The 100-meter hurdles has become one of the marquee events in high school girls track and field in 2016, but Tonea Marshall of Seguin TX remains at the top.
Less than a month after breaking the indoor high school record in the 60 hurdles, Marshall ripped No. 4 all-time 13.04 on Saturday at the Texas Relays. Brandee Johnson from Nansemond River VA, who won the 300 hurdles, was second in 13.18 -- tied for No. 7 all-time.
In the girls triple jump, Tara Davis of Agoura CA jumped a PR 43-2 to move up to No. 10 on the all-time list. She won the long jump on Friday.
Adrian Piperi of The Woodlands TX improved his shot put to 71 feet to continue to make week by week progress. Elena Bruckner of Valley Christian CA threw 51-1 to win the shot put for her second title of the weekend.
Norman Grimes of Canyon TX completed a sweep of the hurdles event by winning the 110s in 14.04 seconds.
Junior Kaylor Harris of Mesquite Horn TX won the girls 100 meters in US#2 11.58 seconds and Celera Barnes of St. Bonaventure CA was second in 11.75.
Brandon Taylor from Friendswood Clear Brook TX won the boys 100 in US#4 10.50. Tevin Chambers of DeSoto was next in US#5 10.52.
In the 3,200 meters, Ashton Endsley of Abilene won in 10:38.68 as eight runners went under 11 minutes. In the boys race, Sam Worley from New Braunfels Canyon won it in 9:04.51, beating Reed Brown (9:08.14) and Carter Blunt (9:12.81).
Dexter Nebow of Odessa Permian went 48-10.50 to win the triple jump.
This meet is known first and foremost for its relay races. Here is a rundown of Saturday's winning teams:
The Houston Cypress Springs girls ran US#2 1:35.88 to edge Horn and win the 4x200 relay.
Marcus TX's girls ran a US#1 9:11.17 to win the fastest section of the 4x800 relay.
Houston Strake Jesuit's boys ran US#1 7:41.58 to win the 4x800 relay.
Cedar Hill TX ran 45.59 in the girls 4x100 relay.
George Ranch TX won the boys 4x100 in US#4 40.78.
The Fort Bend Hightower girls ran 3:40.91 in the 4x400, a bit slower than it ran last week when the group ran a nation-leading 3:40.82.
