BolderBOULDER, America’s All-Time Best 10K, today announced the 18 teams of professional men and women from across the globe that will be racing in the 2014 BolderBOULDER International Team Challenge.

The BolderBOULDER created the International Team Challenge in 1998 which includes professional runners from all over the world that compete on three-person teams in a team by country format, for one of the largest non-marathon prize purse races in the country.

In 2013, athletes that competed in the BolderBOULDER earned more than $147,100. This year’s total prize purse is valued at $110,600 before bonuses. The men’s and women’s professional races follow the BolderBOULDER course and are scheduled to finish in a packed stadium at the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field before the Memorial Day Tribute.

“We are excited to welcome so many top level American athletes in this year’s International

Team Challenge as well as fast international teams that race well at altitude,” said Cliff Bosley, BolderBOULDER race director. “Historically, teams that train at altitude preform very well at the BolderBOULDER and we think it will be a very exciting and competitive men’s and women’s race with this year’s line-up.”

Men for USA’s Red, White and Blue teams include:

Team Red- Ryan Hall, Luke Puskesdra and Jeff Eggleston

Team White- Bobby Curtis, Sean Quigley and Ben Bruce

Team Blue (formally Team Colorado) - Tyler McCandless, Stephen Pifer and Brent Vaughn

Women for USA’s Red, White and Blue teams include:

Team Red- 2008 U.S. Olympic Games 10000m Bronze Medalist Shalane Flanagan, 2004 U.S. Olympic Games marathon bronze medalist Deena Kastor, and Sara Hall.

Team White- Kellyn Johnson, Adriana Nelson and Renee Bailee

Team Blue (formally Team Colorado) - Wendy Thomas, Brianna Nelson and Mattie Suver

In addition to the American athletes competing at this year’s race, the BolderBOULDER will also welcome altitude trained Team Eritrea who will be a fierce competitor for teams Ethiopia and Kenya.

"This year we have team Eritrea coming to break-up the Kenya vs. Ethiopia rivalry,” said

BolderBOULDER professional athlete coordinator Don Janicki. “Eritrean athletes rarely race in the United States and they are competitive in the world racing scene, which should make for a very exciting men’s and women’s race.”

Men for Team Kenya include; 2012 and 2013 BolderBOULDER winner Alan Kiprono, Lani Rutto and Kevin Kipruot Kochel.

Men for Team Ethiopia include; Solomon, Deksisa, 2009 BolderBOULDER winner Tilahun Regassa, and Gebo Burka.

Men for Team Eritrea include; Samson Gebreyohannes, Afewerki Berhane, and Klflom Slum.

Women for Team Kenya include; Agnes Cheserek, Risper Gesabwa, and Millicent Kuria.
