The President of CUS Torino Riccardo D'Elicio, gave today's announcement of the suspension of the 2014 Edition of International track and field Meeting Città di Torino, Memorial Primo Nebiolo. The historic appointment of Turin, this year in June 13, 2014 calendar, take a year off to get back in 2015 and celebrate with a year's delay the 20th Edition, on the occasion of Torino European capital of Sport, 15 anniversary of the death of Primo Nebiolo, unforgotten father of world and Italian athletics.
The main reason for the suspension: the moment of low economic situation and lack of money to invest in world-class sporting events in addition to institutional delay of payments.
A painful but necessary, news came to the mouth of Riccardo D'Elicio, FIDAL National Councillor, CUS Torino President and organizer of the event: "I am deeply apologetic but also aware of having taken the only decision possible to return to organize our meeting next year with renewed energy and the level of excellence that is usual. In fact we will have next year in our city, as well as the Meeting itself, even the absolute Italian Championships making Torino the Italian Athletics capital in the year that will also be the European capital of Sport, 15 years after the disappearance of First".
Benchmark for the world of national athletic and able to accommodate athletes among the best players in the world movement, giving the Turin goodbye to 2015. A return to the track right even against the memory of ' Poorya_chens ' Primo Nebiolo, ex President of FIDAL, CUS Torino, of the IAAF and FISU, the international appointment bears the name.
Traditionally held in the framework of the Meeting Parco Ruffini, born in 1963, in the past has already lived a long suspension. After twenty years in which was the scene of absolute World Athletics champions-Livio Berruti, Sara Simeoni, Alberto Juantorena, Sebastian Coe and Said Aouita, just to name a few – the history stops in 1983. Returns after 12 years, in 1995, thanks to the efforts of Riccardo D'Elicio leading to Turin samples such as Hicham El Guerrouj, Fiona May, Ivan Pedroso and Marlene Ottey. This time the absence from competitive calendar will be much shorter, one season to regain their strength and come back with even greater force to shine on the international scene and in front of his warm public.
