Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) came within two seconds of breaking the meet record and she ran US#2 4:35.64 to hold off Hanne Thomsen to win the girls 1,600 meters final on Saturday at the California state track and field championships at Buchanan High in Fresno.
