Mt. SAC Announces $62 Million Stadium Upgrade, Applying for Olympic Trials

Wanting to take its track and field program to new heights, Mt. San Antonio College announced Monday it will renovate 65-year-old Hilmer Lodge Stadium and put in a bid to host the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in July 2020.

For a chance to hold the greatest track meet in the nation, the Walnut-based community college will spend $62 million from its Measure RR bond funds to completely rebuild the stadium, adding new bleachers for 11,000 spectators, a field house with locker rooms, two weight rooms, two lecture halls plus a digitally-wired press box that can accommodate the global media.

The most critical aspect of the proposed track and field/football facility will be the installation of a nine-lane synthetic track that meets International Association of Athletics Federation standards.
