Mt. SAC Announces $62 Million Stadium Upgrade, Applying for Olympic TrialsPublished by San Gabriel Valley Tribune on October 31, 2015 Wanting to take its track and field program to new heights, Mt. San Antonio College announced Monday it will renovate 65-year-old Hilmer Lodge Stadium and put in a bid to host the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in July 2020. For a chance to hold the greatest track meet in the nation, the Walnut-based community college will spend $62 million from its Measure RR bond funds to completely rebuild the stadium, adding new bleachers for 11,000 spectators, a field house with locker rooms, two weight rooms, two lecture halls plus a digitally-wired press box that can accommodate the global media. The most critical aspect of the proposed track and field/football facility will be the installation of a nine-lane synthetic track that meets International Association of Athletics Federation standards.
