Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic hosted the 5 km event, along with USATF Foundation Board members Willie Banks and Jack Wickens, and USATF Board members Deena Kastor and Philip Dunn. First across the line into a strong Virginia coastal headwind was Patrick Lynskey and Jim Garcia, both timed in 19:22. First women across were Jessica Crate and Laura Bowerman, who both finished in 20:26. The first male race walker to complete the course was three-time Olympian Philip Dunn in 26:19, and the first female heel-and-toer across the finish line was Maryanne Daniel, newly named IAAF race walk judge. Olympic medalist Deena Kastor, well into her pregnancy, jogged steadily and finished in 30:36, which allowed nearly 50 finishers to claim victory over her. Among the helpers at the event were Banks, Dan Pierce, and foundation grant recipients Britney Henry and Russ Winger.
