American Milers Rise to the Top in 2011Published by
If a straw poll had been taken in early 2011 as to which Americans would have had a chance to medal at the IAAF World Championships names like 2009 medalist Shannon Rowbury or 3:30 man Andrew Wheating would have likely been the top picks. The racing scene of the 1500m/mile is unpredictable so nobody would have given them great odds, though, right? Fast forward to September. Morgan Uceny has the women's Diamond League 1500m title, Oregon redshirt junior Matthew Centrowitz earns bronze in the men's 1500m and Jenny Barringer-Simspson is the women's 1500m world champ!
