Canada’s top marathoner Coolsaet donates race winnings to Guelph track

Reid Coolsaet has logged countless miles around the rundown cinder track at the University of Guelph, a 50-year-old facility in a perpetual state of disrepair.

Now, Canada’s top marathoner is doing his part to make sure young athletes coming up behind him will have it a bit better.

When the call went out last week for last-minute donations to help build a world-class track and field facility at the university, the 32-year-old Hamilton native didn’t hesitate, chipping in his $10,000 winnings from the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
