Bolt defends Thierry Henry in ball handled incidentPublished by
By Gary Smith, World-Track Global KINGSTON, Jamaica — Triple Olympic and World champion Usain Bolt has offered his support to French striker Thierry Henry after his handball incident drew him many criticisms. The Jamaican sprint world record holder over the 100m, 200m and 4×100m, believes Henry’s ball handling that played a role in France’s game that knocked the Republic of Ireland out of next year’s World Cup in South Africa, was unconscious. “What would I do? If I was in the same situation, I might have done the same,” the world’s sprintsuper star was quoted as saying on tribalfootball. “You can understand what happens in a player’s head at times and I have no idea how I would react. I have an Irish manager who would want to say otherwise, but I cannot.” Bolt, who set world records at the Olympic Gamesin Beijing in 2008 before lowering those marks in the Berlin world championships this past August, is a fan of Manchester United and Real Madrid football clubs. The 23-year-old was a guest at both clubs last season. Bolt is currently back in training where he isstarting preparation for the 2010 track and field season.
