Students Bedford-bound for BUCS battles

A look ahead to this weekend’s BUCS action in Bedford

The nation’s top students will be battling for championship honours at the BUCS Championships in Bedford this weekend.

World indoor fourth-placer Andrew Pozzi is entered for the 110m hurdles, while Niall Flannery and Lloyd Gumbs are sub-50-second entries in the longer hurdles event.

In the sprints, international 400m runner Richard Buck is set to be in action, while Bianca Williams is looking to follow up on her recent 11.25 for 100m in the United States.

European junior 1500m champion Jake Wightman is another a notable entry, while James Shane, Richard Goodman and Jonny Hay are also due to appear in the middle-distances.

Over in the women’s 5000m and Lauren Howarth, Annabel Gummow and Beth Potter head a classy line-up.

Pole vaulters Nick Cruchley, Daniel Gardner and Paul Walker are among the leading men s field event entries, while Isobel Pooley (high jump), Jazmin Sawyers (long jump), Izzy Jeffs and Laura Whittingham (both javelin) will also be in action on the field.
