DRUGS cheat sprinter Dwain Chambers won't be lining up against triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt in Manchester this May.
Chambers'
fellow Brits, Mark Lewis-Francis and Simeon Williamson, have been
invited to race the world's fastest human at the Great City Games on
May 18.
But organisers have not invited the recently crowned European Indoor 60 metres gold medallist.
Chambers
tested positive for the steroid THG in 2003 and received an automatic
Olympic life ban though he is eligible to take part in other high
profile events.
"We feel Manchester in May and future races of this
type must be geared to helping British athletes prepare for London 2012
against world class opposition," says David Hart from organisers Nova
International.
"Dwain has accepted he will not be at London 2012 because of his BOA ban.
"Therefore
having attracted Usain and with other stars in the pipeline, we must
reserve places in the race for those with the potential to represent
their country in three-and-a half-years time."
Both Athens sprint relay gold medallist
Lewis-Francis and Williamson, the World Undergraduate Games 100 metres
champion, are viable contenders.
